Dr. Richard Carmona
Dr. Richard Carmona, the oldest son of poor immigrant parents, enlisted in the United States Army at 17 years old, received his Army GED and went on to become a combat decorated Special Forces soldier. He continued to distinguish himself in many disciplines including law enforcement special operations, all hazards emergency preparedness and response, as a trauma surgeon and EMS director, a distinguished university professor and as the 17th Surgeon General of the United States. He is currently president of the non-profit Canyon Ranch Institute.
Dr. James Peake
Dr. James Peake joins the Guardian 24/7 Advisory Board with a distinguished 38-year career in the US Army, including four years as Army surgeon general. From 2007 to 2009, Peake served President George W. Bush as secretary of veterans affairs. Dr. Peake was previously the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Project Hope, a non-profit international health foundation. He is currently a senior vice president and board member of CGI Federal.
Admiral Joseph Prueher
Admiral Joseph Prueher served two Presidents as ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. Earlier in his decorated naval career, Admiral Prueher served as commander-in-chief of the US Pacific Command, commandant at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, and commander of Carrier Battle Group ONE. Admiral Prueher is a member of The Council on Foreign Relations, and is the James R. Schlesinger distinguished professor at the Miller Center of the University of Virginia.
Dr. Jay Sanders
Dr. Jay Sanders brings over 30 years experience in the development and implementation of health information technologies to the Guardian 24/7 Advisory Board. Dr. Sanders is president and CEO of The Global Telemedicine Group, professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (adjunct), and a founding board member of the American Telemedicine Association where he serves as president emeritus.
